¢£ Through traditional forging and tempering methods using high purity-level Japanese steel and soft iron (dead soft iron), Toyokuni products bring out the true high quality that is intrinsic to Japanese steel. Through years of experience and proven proper heat treatment methods, we use precise quenching and annealing techniques to match the hardness, durability, and resilience of the blade to the needs of the customer’s intended use, producing carefully thought-out, top quality products.

¢£ Please be assured that we have already sharpened the blade of your purchased knife
so that you can immediately begin using it.
After use, please sharpen the blade so that it remains easy for you to use.

¡Ú£´¡ÛPrecautions for Use

¢£ Toyokuni products use high-purity Japanese steel, so they are prone to rust.

¢£ After use, thoroughly clean the blade with detergent or knife cleaner, and then wipe away any moisture with a dry towel. Also, please store the knife and the case separately, as this can be a cause for rust.

¢£ Please store your knife in a place that children cannot reach.

¢£ Please prevent rusting by keeping your knife wrapped in the anti-corrosion paper included at the time of purchase.

¢£ If rusting does occur, please do not worry as it will be removed with sharpening.

¢£ Exposing your Toyokuni product to temperatures over 100¡î can impede their cutting ability, so please use caution.

¢£ Carrying a knife if it is not needed for your occupation, or for another valid reason (fishing, camping, mountain climbing, hiking, etc.), is a violation of the law. (Firearms and Swords Control Act, article 22)

¢£ We do not sell knives to minors under the age of 20.

¢£ “Made by Toyokuni” or “Made by Masano” is displayed on all Toyokuni products. This mark is an indication of the product guarantee. Please confirm the presence of the mark before purchase.

We take all possible measures to ensure the quality of our products from start to finish of the production process, but in the rare occurrence of a defective product, please send the product along with a detailed description of it’s condition and state of use to our company as soon as possible.

¢£ If the defect is a result of the production process, then we will repair or replace the product free of charge.

In the case that there is a defect in the raw materials or functionality of the product,
we guarantee product repair and product replacement for life.
The scope of this guarantee is limited to component replacement and repair.
Shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.
We cannot guarantee products that have become defective
due to improper use or because of attempted repair by the customer.

¡ü In the Event of Long-term Storage

If your knife has been stored for a long period of time without being used, put a little bit of knife oil on the knife
and rub it in with a soft cloth.
When rubbing oil into the tip of the knife, firmly hold the knife against a cutting board.
(You risk cutting your hand if you try to oil the knife while just holding it)
As for the knife oil, it is best to use camellia- or vegetable-based oil.

Please do not forget to rub oil into the spine of the knife.
After taking care of the oiling,
wrap the knife in newspaper and affix it with tape.
Please store it in a place that is low in humidity with good ventilation.
We also sell anti-corrosive paper separately.
